Proprietary Cash Management System

Venture managed the implementation of a real-time cash management system for a large financial institution. The cash system provides standardized, centralized cash data for both front- and back-office personnel to manage day-to-day cash operations for all account and security types. Front-office personnel are provided, via real-time messaging, with start of day and intraday cash data updated for all trading activity. Back-office personnel use the cash system to manage cash reconciliations and provide intraday cash updates to the organization. The cash system is utilized by Portfolio Analysts, Portfolio Managers, Traders, Accounting, Custody, and Client Services personnel. Data is distributed to pre-trade compliance, portfolio management, and trading systems via TIBCO messaging.

Portfolio Management System

Venture managed the conversion from existing accounting application to a leading accounting and portfolio management system for a small investment advisor. Venture assumed the role of business and systems analyst to identify additional business and system requirements necessary to round out the core system and developed the functional designs and test plans to support those requirements. Venture also managed the implementation of the physical communications configuration and coordinated general QA activities.

Trading and Portfolio Management System

Venture was commissioned by a large financial institution to lead a software engineering team in the development, enhancement, and implementation of a new Trading and Portfolio Management System. The new system replaced a number of existing trading and position keeping systems. The team integrated the new system with other strategic systems including: security and trade repositories, fund accounting, data warehouses, and more. Venture assumed all project management responsibilities to migrate Equity Swaps and Option Derivative Positions from existing trade applications to the new system. This development effort included: modifications and customizations to the vendor system, including extensions to the vendor system data model; the design and development of feeds to/from other applications; and the design and development of several batch stream processes in support of feeds and reporting. Venture coordinated and developed detailed conversion implementation plans involving multiple organizations and applications.
