Portfolio Accounting and General Ledger Systems Evaluation

Venture was engaged to join a strategic team at a large financial institution to evaluate portfolio accounting and general ledger systems, and to develop an executive recommendation to support the purchase of a vendor package.
Included in the scope of this project was a functional and technical review of vendors, which included a formal RFP process. Venture also developed, executed, and analyzed performance benchmark tests to ensure the platforms could support this client’s high transaction volumes. Recommendations to support the purchase of the hardware were upheld by the test results.

Throughout the five-month strategic effort, Venture worked alongside the client’s senior management team to provide a comprehensive recommendation to the firm’s executive management. Venture was subsequently asked by the client to integrate this system into its business and technical infrastructure.

Portfolio Optimizer System Evaluation

Venture assumed a Project manager role, coordinating the efforts of various groups across the front, middle, and back office in preparation for the launch of a strategic new product implemented to support Tax Managed Funds. Venture coordinated and participated in the assessment of portfolio tax optimization packages. Venture conducted functional and technical evaluations of candidate vendor systems and worked with the client to implement the system, focusing on vendor relationship management, hardware procurement, and coordination of development and testing groups for equity trading, investment data, fund accounting, and network operations.

Corporate Finance Business Processes

Venture implemented a client/server general ledger package to support a financial services company in its Corporate Finance Division. This project required a complete evaluation of the client’s business processes, an evaluation of vendor packages with a formal RFP, a package and technology recommendation, and full implementation and conversions. Venture Financial Systems Group is a strategic technology partner of this firm and has provided presentations to its affiliates regarding the process of performing successful vendor and vendor package evaluations in order to select the appropriate product.
